Duct tape is waterproof, anti-corrosive, has strong peeling force and tensile strength, and is often used for joining carpets, telephone line protection, and heavy object binding. So what material is a tape with such a wide range of uses made of? Kunshan Yuhuan Package Materials Co., Ltd. will answer for you.
Duct tape is generally composed of three layers, the first layer is polyethylene. Polyethylene is a thermoplastic resin, odorless, non-toxic, and feels like wax to the touch. This material has excellent low temperature resistance and electrical insulation, good chemical stability, and low water absorption. Products using polyethylene as the base material generally have a wide range of applications.
The second layer is the duct base layer, which is a layer of gauze fibers treated with PE resin. This layer of fiber increases the strength of the tape and makes the tape difficult to break.
The third layer is the adhesive layer, and the duct tape usually uses rubber pressure sensitive adhesive. They are a complex mixture of natural rubber as the main body, plus softeners, antioxidants and other additives. Natural rubber has high cohesive strength and elasticity. It can be well miscible with many tackifying resins to obtain a glue with high viscosity and good wettability to the material to be adhered. It is an ideal type of pressure-sensitive adhesive.
