Material selection of reflective tape

As an important road safety warning tape, reflective tape has many different materials to suit different applications. Such as temperature resistance, low water vapor permeability, good gloss PET material; or light weight, anti-aging PC material; and durable, non-flammable PVC material. Each of these materials has its own advantages and disadvantages, and they are all produced to cope with the complex outdoor environment. Today, Kunshan Yuhuan Package Materials Co., Ltd. will briefly introduce these materials.

PET is a common resin in daily life. It is a highly crystalline polymer with a smooth and shiny surface. This material can be used for a long time in the temperature range of 55-60℃, can withstand low temperature of -70℃, has excellent electrical insulation and good folding resistance. Reflective tape made of this material can maintain a good service life even in the case of large temperature differences between day and night.

PC is resistant to weak acids, weak bases, neutral oils, has good optical properties, and is also resistant to oxidation. This material is also very good for long-term outdoor aging, but it is not resistant to ultraviolet rays and will turn yellow when exposed to ultraviolet rays for a long time. In addition, PC material is insoluble in water, so PC reflective tape can be used in rainy, long-term cloudy urban environments.

PVC has stable physical and chemical properties, is insoluble in water, alcohol, gasoline, and has low gas and water vapor leakage; it can withstand any concentration of hydrochloric acid at room temperature. However, PVC has poor stability to light and heat, but it has certain chemical resistance. This means that PVC reflective tape is more suitable for indoor environments and can be used in safe passages or large work areas.
