Kinesiology tape for arthritis

Kinesiology tape is a type of tape that can be applied to an athlete's joints and other areas to prevent muscle strain and relieve muscle pain. When you sprain your ankle during exercise, kinesiology tapes are a great option. They help reduce tissue stress, provide kinesiology support and help you recover from pain faster, they are stretchy and breathable, and they gently lift the skin to promote better blood circulation and improve athletic performance.

Although our products are medical grade and have CE testing certificates, if you have allergy prone skin, we always recommend testing them on your skin 12 hours prior to first use.

How do I test the Kinesiology Tape?

Here's how you do it. Cut a two-inch square piece of tape, apply it to your skin, and let it sit for 8 hours (remember, chest skin is different from the rest of your body!) . If the test comes back clean, you can use the tape with confidence.

Using kinesiology tape on the Joint

Step 1: Prepare the material

A 5cm*5m roll of kinesiology tape and a pair of scissors for k-tape.

Step 2: Clean your Joint

This is very important! Unclean, non-dry skin will prevent the adhesive from adhering properly. Make sure your skin is free of any of the following

  • Lotions and oils (including moisturizing soaps and body washes that leave lotion on the skin)

  • Powders, concealers or any makeup products

  • Perfume or deodorant

  • Sweat

  • Sunscreen

Step 3: Measure and cut

Cut a few strips of kinesiology tape to the width of your Joint. Cutting it too short will affect the application and cutting it too long will result in a lot of waste. You will need at least 3 strips of kinesiology adhesive tape on your Joint, crossed for best results.

Step 4: Lift and Stick

Slowly peel the release paper off the tape, making sure it doesn't touch yourself or your hands too much. Remember this is a single use product, once the tape touches something, it will not stick anymore. One person cannot do this job well and another person will need to assist us for best results.

Do not apply too much tension to the tape when applying it. Too much tension on the tape can cause the bandage to pull too much on the skin and cause irritation.

Step 5: Activate and trim

Activate the tape by moving your shoulders and carefully trim any excess. Make sure not to lift the bandage too high, as you will not be able to reattach it to the skin.
