How to use kinesiology tape on the shoulder?

kinesiology tapes are a type of tape that can be adhered to areas such as muscles and joints to prevent muscle strains and relieve muscle pain during exercise. They are very stretchable and breathable, and they gently lift the skin to promote better blood circulation and improve motor performance. They help reduce tissue stress, provide muscles support and help you recover from pain more quickly.

Although our products are medical grade and have CE testing certificates, if you have allergy prone skin, we always recommend testing them on your skin 12 hours prior to your first use.


How do I test the kinesiology patch tape?


Here's what you do: Cut a two-inch square piece of tape, stick it to your skin and let it stay on for 8 hours . If the test comes back clean, you can use the tape with confidence.


Using kinesiology tape on the shoulder


Step 1: Prepare materials


A 5cm*5m roll of kinesiology tape, a pair of scissors


Step 2: Clean your skin


This is very important! Skin that is not clean and dry will be oily and will prevent the adhesive from adhering properly. Please make sure your skin is free of any of the following.

  • Lotions and oils (including moisturizing soaps and body washes that leave lotions on the skin)

  • Powders, concealers or any makeup products

  • Perfume or deodorant

  • Sweat

  • Sunscreen 


Step 3: Measure and cut


Cut several strips of kinesiology stick tape according to the width of your shoulders. Cutting too short will affect the application effect, and cutting too long will cause a lot of waste. You need at least 3 strips of kinesiology stick tape on your shoulders, crossed for the best effect.


Step 4: Lift and stick


Slowly peel the padding off the tape, making sure it doesn't touch yourself or your hands too much. Remember that this is a single use product and once the tape touches something, it will not stick again. One person cannot do this job well and another person will need to assist us to achieve the best results.

Do not apply too much tension to the tape when applying it. Too much tension on the bandage can cause the bandage to pull too much on the skin and cause irritation.


Step 5: Activation and trimming


Activate the tape by moving your shoulders and carefully trim any excess. Make sure not to lift the tape too much as you will not be able to re-adhere it to your skin.
