Anti slip tapes are designed for long-term use, so many people struggle with removing them completely from a surface. Sometimes, some layers of the tape will come off, leaving some residue on the surface. Hence, it’s important to know the correct way to remove anti slip tape.

The easiest way to remove anti slip tape is by peeling it off using your nails or a sharp-edged object like a plastic scraper. If you start with a corner of the tape, you can slowly peel back the tape. Always make sure that all the layers of the tape come off. But if the adhesive of the anti slip tape is too strong, you may have to use a heat gun or a hairdryer to peel the tape off.

Removing Anti Slip Tape Using Heat

To remove anti slip tape with heat, you can use either a heat gun or a hairdryer. If you are using a heat gun, make sure to use the lowest heat setting (around 150°F). You can follow the steps below to remove the tape using heat.

1. First of all, place the end of the heat gun about 3 inches above the surface of the tape. Then, evenly distribute the heat to a small section of the tape, including at least one corner. After about 30 seconds, turn off the heat and set the gun aside.

2. Slip an object with a sharp edge (like a plastic razor blade or credit card) under the heated corner and lift off a small section of the anti slip tape. Keep the object sliding until you can grip a section of the tape with your fingers.

3. Now pull the anti slip tape carefully, making sure that the free section stays perpendicular to the original surface. When you reach the end of the heated section, stop pulling.

4. Turn on the heat gun again and heat the next section. Repeat this action of heating and peeling until you remove the whole section of anti slip tape.

How to Remove Residue from Anti Slip Tape?

Most tapes tend to leave adhesive residue. There are several methods to remove such residue. Some of the methods are as follows:

- Wet the area with orange oil or citrus spray and rub it off with a soft cloth. If the adhesive still sticks to the surface, soak the area with the mixture again, and leave it off for a few hours.

- Place a drop of mineral spirits on the surface, wait for a few minutes, and wipe the surface.

- Apply a commercial adhesive removal agent on a corner of a paper towel, and dab it on the adhesive residue on the surface. Wait for a few minutes until the adhesive becomes soft, and scrape the residue off with a plastic scraper.

The above methods will help you to remove anti slip tape without causing any damage to the surface. We hope these will help you in your home redecoration!
